FCC Environment, part of the FCC Group, have a requirement for Business Manager to be responsible for the efficient running of their landfill site at Calvert in Buckinghamshire.

About the role

The Business Manager will be responsible for the operation of the site ensuring health and safety and legislative compliance, the delivery of customer expectations and the achievement of revenue and profit targets.

As well as managing the operation of the site, responsibility will include HS2 Project Delivery, managing the whole process to eliminate impact on the FCC operating business from implementation to completion.   This will involve management of site impact, compensation, changes to infrastructure, ecological management and legal and warranty matters.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Understanding and implementing the company SHEQ Policy
  • To monitor and control landfill operations
  • Manage and control   capital and provisions expenditure
  • Manage the Engineering team, reviewing tender documents, attending meetings and controlling on site contractors
  • Management of the delivery of an approved leachate extraction system
  • Control repair and maintenance procedures
  • Operational cost reporting and participation in the preparation of forecasts and budgets
  • Staffing,   training and compliance
  • Site security

Experience and Skills

  • Minimum A level education, ideally a graduate in business or environmental disciplines
  • Relevant CoTC
  • Strong reputation for consistent delivery of projects on time and to budget
  • Successful management of a professional team demonstrating an ability to deliver value through influence at a local level
  • Operational management within a sector where compliance with regulatory controls is an important factor
  • Proven ability as a line manager, able to recruit, develop, motivate and control operations and technical staff working in a processing, extractive industry or utility environment.
  • First class communication skills be a confident spokesperson, credible as a representative of the company.
