FCC Environment, part of the FCC Group, have a requirement for a National Fleet Inspector to undertake roadworthiness inspections and monitor the quality of repair and maintenance to the Group's fleet of light and heavy goods vehicles across a range of locations throughout the UK.

 €¢               Green energy -recovery of energy from waste

 €¢               Waste Processing -industrial waste treatment, hazardous wastes and landfill disposal

We operate over 200 facilities in England, Scotland and Wales and employ around 2,500 employees.   We recycle 1.2 million tonnes of waste each year.

This is a home based opportunity involving national travel and could involve spending some nights away from home.

You must be a highly credible engineer with strong negotiation skills who will ensure awareness of current legislation and operational changes which would impact vehicle safety and liaise with the operational teams to ensure the most cost effective and safe operation of all groups of vehicles.

Key Responsibilities of our Fleet Inspector will be:

  • Implementation of the Group Health and Safety Policy
  • Monitor vehicle maintenance records and forward planners to retain DVSA compliance
  • Develop working relationships with in house workshop managers
  • Liaise with Transport Managers and help with vehicle enquiries
  • Coach and advise HGV drivers and Managers on DVSA best practice
  • Report and action breaches of legislative, regulatory or policy requirements
  • To keep abreast of technological developments and industry best practice in the operation of road transport

Experience and Skills:

  • Qualified to C & G level 3 or equivalent you must be competent in all aspects of HGV repair and maintenance to a recognised industry standard
  • HGV driver licence and CPC qualified preferred
  • Experience in waste management vehicles and the industry is desirable
  • Computer literate; proficient in use of MS Word and MS Excel
