FCC Environment, part of the FCC Group, have a requirement for a Shift Manager to lead improvements in operational performance at their Allington EfW facility.  

Shift Manager Role Purpose

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Shift Manager will provide leadership and management of the Integrated Waste Management facility with responsibility for the safe, compliant and profitable operation   on a day to day basis.   A key part of the role will be managing your team of five ensuring high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping are established and maintained ensuring your team work safely, compliantly and effectively.

Shift Manager Responsibilities

  • Understand and implement the company SHEQ policy
  • Day-to-day Safety and Environmental performance
  • Ensure all employees and sub-contractors are trained and competent and that necessary licenses and certificates are in force
  • Provide leadership and direction to the team in relation to HV, LV and mechanical SAP
  • Estimating and ordering material requirements
  • Health and safety
  • Ensuring first line maintenance work is performed
  • Acting as Incident Controller in emergency situations and covering for the Operations Manager in his absence

Qualifications and Experience

  • HNC or higher in a relevant technical discipline
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety and Environmental legislation
  • Experience of working in a technical and challenging environment
  • Good communication skills at all levels, both verbally and written
  • Effective team building, encouraging motivation and people value
  • The ability to demonstrate excellent organizational skills
  • Have a willingness and ability to operate flexibly over a wide range of work areas
  • Computer literate
  • The ability to undertake report writing
  • The ability to think logically and solve problems effectively and efficiently
