Taking our relationship with UK Power Networks (UKPN) to the next level, McNicholas has been awarded a substantial partnership role for their RIIO-ED1 Capital Delivery Alliance, which plans to put  £1bn of capital investment into power networks in London and the South.

Building upon our successful track record of delivery with UKPN, with whom we €™ve worked since their formation in 2010, this 12 year Alliance will see us work alongside AmecFoster Wheeler, Clancy Docrwa and Morrison Utilities to enable UK Power Network €™s business plan and regulatory objectives under RIIO-ED1.

As a result we are currently looking to recruit a Project Manager to join our team on a permanent basis working from collocated offices with the UKPN team, with the Alliance Management Team based in central London. The Southern Power Networks team will be based in Crawley and Maidstone.

Working across all three of UKPN €™s DNO Regions , we will be providing or collaborating on the design and construction of new major underground circuits (up to 132kV), connections projects and new construction or enhancement of substations (EPN and SPN) as well as being the sole provider of design, construction and enhancement to secondary substations and their cabling (230V to 11kV).

Main Responsibilities of the Project Manager:

 €¢Lead, motivate, support & develop the project/work package teams to engender a constructive, problem solving, high achieving attitude matched by results.
 €¢Manage all operational aspects of specific projects/ works packages and activities ensuring that they are on time, within planned costs, to the specifications and drawings and profitable to the agreed standard.
 €¢Effectively manage customer & client relationships, playing an integral part in the preparation & presentation to the customer of company technical & commercial benefits
 €¢Work closely with the planning team to ensure successful planning of the sequence of the work, establishment of key dates and the workforce required by the project works
 €¢Ensure that all Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental requirements pertaining to the project are in place and monitored.
 €¢Work with the Commercial team on all contract related issues e.g. variations, interim progress applications for payment on account for the project works, negotiation and agreement of the project final account, subcontractor accounts
 €¢Organise the project teams, their workload & work effectively with the required support
 €¢Monitor and ensure that the work of direct and sub-contract resource is being carried out to specification and programme, ensuring that defects are remedied and managed within the scope of the contract terms
 €¢Attainment of relevant targets and business goals, maximising contract profitability
 €¢Production of reports, presentations and drawings/designs as required
 €¢Any other appropriate duties as might be required on a contract/ project basis or required by senior management to meet the requirements of the business.

The ideal candidate for this role will have extensive experience within a similar environment, with strong management skills you will have the ability to drive the project forward ensuring milestones are met in line with client specification.
