Four years ago, we started our journey to become the national leader in customer service – not just in the water industry or in Utilities but up there with companies like Amazon and Apple. It’s a hugely ambitious project and we need resourceful, proactive people with a strong customer focus, great communications skills and real emotional intelligence to help us get there.
We operates in the north east of England, trading as Northumbrian Water, and in the south east of England, trading as Essex & Suffolk Water.
We continue to focus on our core competencies of water and waste water management, and aim to deliver value to all stakeholders by being a leading performer in the industry. We are firmly rooted within the communities we serve. This understanding of, and commitment to, those communities is demonstrated by our leadership in initiatives such as ′Water for Health, affordable housing and in our approach to corporate responsibility. Our mission is clear - to be the national leader; our strategy reflects this and provides a clear direction for all our activities.
North East England
Northumbrian Water provides water and sewerage services to 2.7 million people in the north east of England. The major population centres of Tyneside, Wearside and Teesside are in our area but we also serve large rural areas in Northumberland and County Durham (provision of waste water services only in Hartlepool).
South East England
Essex & Suffolk Water provides water services to two separate supply areas. Our Essex area, which has a population of 1.5 million, is part rural and part urban with the main areas of population being in Chelmsford, Southend and the London Boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge. We serve a population of 0.3 million in our Suffolk area, which is mainly rural with the biggest towns being Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft.
We’re more than just a water company. It takes a wide range of skills and talents to maintain the flow of water to our 4.5 million customers across the UK.
