The Strategic Network Operation and Maintenance Team have recently undertaken a review to identify work and maintenance tasks which are required as part of our increased focus on how best to look after and maintain our ageing strategic network assets, above and below ground. This focus is vital to ensure we continue to deliver industry leading customer service.
As a Strategic Network Technician you will be expected to be hands on, the role also requires you to be practically minded and have a good understanding of pumps and network hydraulics. This role will also involve great deal of manual handling work and confined space entries.
You will find yourself working within a team helping to provide the necessary resource and competences to fix things at strategic sites as well as supporting others to develop solutions to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
The Strategic Network O&M management and supervisory team encourage empowerment and you will be given the support, training and skills required to enable you to make on the spot decisions and work and think smarter while feeling confident in the decisions you make.
This role offers individuals an excellent opportunity to develop and build specialist water networks knowledge while carrying out challenging operational tasks and intervention solutions.
You will play a key role in ensuring a proactive approach to support our wider strategic network team, CFS and Network Services. The tasks undertaken directly contribute to a range of key outcome measures for the company, examples of these are: Water Quality, The Environment and Health and Safety.
To be successful, you'll need:
Experience in carrying out practical and technical work
Good communication skills
A full and valid driving licence, ideally to include towing of trailers
A good basic understanding of the water network
Able to interpret drawings (paper plans and electronic GIS/CAD)
In addition, you will need to demonstrate that you:
Have positive drive and enthusiasm to work alone and as part of a team
Are able to work flexibly
Are able to assess safety risks of work assigned
Have GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English grade C or above
