Our Role
The Sales Engineer will liaise with clients, local/national authorities within their assigned area to raise AUS's profile and to increase relationships. You will undertake and manage the sales and pre-delivery stage of public lighting projects to include site survey works for new lighting schemes which will involve assessing suitable column positions and the preparation of drawings, risk assessments, schedules and associated works. Key accountabilities:
-External and internal Lighting Sales
-Support on pricing activities for the business
-Manage Client relationship to ensure all requirements are fulfilled
-Technical advice (Design, products, pricing)
-Project Handover to operations
-Ensure pricing proposals and tender responses are issued in a timely and accurate manner
-Follow up on all tenders/quotations issued and ensure that all outcomes are recorded.
-Proactively contribute to the development of the commercial team, AUS product offerings, services and future strategy
-Develop new relationships with both consumers and consultants, giving rise to new tendering opportunities
-Ensure all proposal deadlines are achieved and appropriately followed up
-Ensure bespoke contract negotiations on terms and conditions are concluded successfully
-Presentations and sell company products and services to potential customers, either by mail, email, telephone or face to face
-Achieve short, medium and long-term sales objectives in line with overall business objectives.
-Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of prospective jobs and opportunities. Provide reports in a timely and accurate manner
-Provide feedback on market trends/ competitor activity relevant to AUS
-Follow up on new leads and referrals
Your Skills and Experience
-Problem solving and analytical approach to root cause
-Proven track record in winning new business opportunities. Sales / negotiation skills.
-Proven track record of excellent relationship management spanning a diverse range of clients and end users
-Thorough knowledge of SSE Enterprise businesses, local authorities, supporting manufacturing businesses, and the construction industry
-In depth knowledge of key contracts and customer/client base
-Strong commercial acumen
-Knowledge and experience of managing PQQ and tendering processes
-High levels of numeracy / analytical skills and sound IT skills
-Able to identify and implement innovative and effective business improvements
-Able to work to deadlines and own initiative
-Business development and client relationship skills with a solution led perspective
-Accuracy and attention to detail with a commitment to continuous improvement and deliver effective training
