SSE is one of the largest and most diverse energy companies in the UK and Ireland with around 10 million customer accounts across our various brands and over 20,000 staff. Our in- house training team is well established, and deliver training material to learners across the UK in a variety of classroom, on the job and eLearning based environments. We are looking for a new Training Designer to join our team to create and develop new classroom and blended learning material to be used for our field based Gas and Electricity teams such a Overhead Lines Workers, Gas Engineers, Meter Installers and Cable Jointers to name a few.
Working with Design Architects, they will analyse learning aims and objectives and discuss and agree ideas for learning activities with internal customers. They will share their knowledge- both technical of Gas and Electricity and of learning theories to provide advice and guidance as to the right fit learning solutions to achieve the required result, to the agreed specification and quality standards. Working across multiple learning projects at once, they will design and maintain content for Gas and/or Electric areas of work creating high quality learning content with clearly defined learning and performance outcomes linked to business KPIs.
We expect our ideal candidate to join us with experience of designing interactive training content and to have a full understanding of the training cycle. They will be able to analyse, extract and present relevant information from technical policies, procedures and work instructions. They will have experience with learning and evaluation theories such as training needs analysis, Blooms Taxonomy and Kirkpatrick s Model of Evaluation and be able to demonstrate where they have utilised these in a work environment. A background of working with a project management approach and understanding how principles such as quality review processes, stage-gates and sign off points with clients apply to the learning design process would be a benefit.
Its essential that our successful candidate holds a qualification in Electrical Engineering, Gas and/or Metering such as HNC, City & Guilds or be able to demonstrate that they have the equivalent underpinning knowledge gained through on the job experience.
Our new designer will have excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex ideas to a range of audiences and to generate trust and confidence in individuals at all levels both within and outside the organisation. They will be an effective and persuasive communicator, with a high degree of personal credibility and skilled at engaging effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, both internally and externally. Having high personal standards is critical, along with an ability to work to tight deadlines whilst never compromising on quality. Using their creative ability, they will be able to provide insights and creative solutions to challenges whist adhering to brand guidelines and corporate compliance practices.
