Job Purpose:

The role of the Commercial Support Administrator is to support the Commercial Manager and Assistant Quantity Surveyors in the commercial team to deliver improved commercial performance for the  €˜Projects €™ business unit within the Connections Directorate. We are responsible for the financial review and closure of 6,000+ jobs per annum covering East Anglia, London and the South-east of England.

We are also responsible for compiling and distributing financial and commercial reports relating to the regulatory performance of the business. We interface with our Operations Directorate who undertake the physical installation of the jobs that are quoted by the design team. We provide commercial support and assistance to improve the financial performance of jobs and to improve the commercial awareness and understanding for the internal customers that have financial accountability to deliver these jobs.

The commercial team has already delivered significant improvements in commercial and financial performance and also to ensure consistency of commercial processes within  €˜Connections Projects €™.

This is an ideal opportunity for candidates with some office based administration experience to further develop their skills and knowledge.


Principal Accountabilities:

  • Manage the process for the return of completed jobs from 50+ delivery Engineers in accordance with the relevant timescales and the management of the workflow of jobs to be financially reviewed.
  • Validate all costs have been incurred on all jobs before any financial review process is undertaken by the AQS €™s.
  • Ensure that jobs are financially reviewed in accordance with the job closure processes and standards and the relevant information and reasons are captured and reported.
  • Proactively manage the flow of financial review information on completed jobs to comply with the regulatory reporting requirements prior to the jobs being submitted for regulatory reporting.
  • Provide commercial support to the design and delivery teams who are accountable for delivering the jobs and respond to financial queries related to job costs and reporting information and management of processes and data.
  • Manage the process to issue credit notes and refund customers where appropriate, within designated timescales.
  • Work with other members of the commercial team to manage the flow of work from internal customers, the work volumes for the team and the monitoring of financial closure actions.



Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience


  • Proven experience of working in an office environment.
  • Must be numerate and used to working with numbers, spreadsheets and reports.
  • Very good level of PC skills, as a minimum demonstrable competence in use of Excel for formulas & sums.
  • The ability to learn and use a variety of IT systems with fast and accurate keyboard skills.
  • Attention to detail to ensure data accuracy is essential.
  • Ability to work in a pressured environment as part of a highly focused team
  • Team working  €“ the drive and ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve shared goals and optimise the contribution of all members of the team.
  • Ability to build good working relationships with team, and all stakeholders.
  • Initiative - A bias for action and proactive problem resolution and ability to manage own workload is essential.
  • Self-motivated, with a strong drive to succeed, be efficient and continuously improve.



  • Proven knowledge and experience of producing reports and graphs in Excel and VLOOKUP €™s & Pivot tables would be a distinct advantage, but will be developed in role.
  • Proven experience of analysing data in Excel and compiling data and reports.
