Job Purpose

As a Maintenance Operator you will work within Water & Scientific Services to implement an efficient and effective lubrication schedule to ensure that planned lubrication, oil changes and oil samples are carried out on a range of water assets to the quality, performance and safety standards of the company.

Job Accountabilities

  • Carry out inspections and lubrication activities located at various water operational sites
  • Perform planned lubrication activities, predictive and preventative maintenance on identified Water assets, in accordance to planned scheduled activities
  • Provide confirmation that lubrication has been carried out to the relevant standard and at the identified frequency
  • Liaise and advise Process Operations, Maintenance staff and Scheduling Coordinators of any problems with assets which may require further investigation by other teams
  • Organise day to day activities ensuring effective utilisation of time, and ensure that levels of lubricant and material stock are maintained
  • Ensure that set targets are met thus supporting our business plan, departmental/business objectives and ODI's
  • Implement agreed planned lubrication programs without adversely affecting water treatment processes
  • Asset data collection, validation, asset data amendment, task registration and de-registration activities in line with Mobile asset resource scheduling
  • To carry out minor remedial work on assets (adjustments, etc.) appropriate to the level of competence and training
  • Contribute towards the training, mentoring and coaching of Apprentices and other Maintenance colleagues & Operational Controllers

Knowledge and Skills

  • Educated to a good standard GCSE Grade C or above
  • Good mechanical skills knowledge and experience 
  • Working knowledge of United Utilities, Utility Solutions safe systems of work, company policy, statutory regulations, operations procedures, maintenance procedures
  • Organisational and communication skills
  • Computer skills e.g. Word, Excel, report writing, data transfer

Desirable Criteria

  • Ideally some water industry experience
