This position is based at our clients Wastewater Treatment Plant, Heineken, Ledbury.

Salary  £20,000 + shift allowance + Access to Veolia €™s Rewards, Benefits & Discounts

12 hour shifts, 4 on 4 off (including nights)

This is a fixed term role until the end of December 2019

Where you €™ll work

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Operations Technician to join our team within our clients site at Heineken Mill in Ledbury.  Heineken is the UK €™s leading pub, cider and beer company.

This site operates 24/7.


What you €™ll do

The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily operation of the wastewater treatment plant primarily to ensure that the plant operates safely, efficiently and remains compliant.  

The operations technician provides out of hours standby cover as part of the works €™ operational rota to ensure the site is maintained out of hours during the non- milling season.

  • Collection of samples

  • Conducting laboratory analysis of samples in accordance with works instructions and interpretation of results

  • Setting of plant flows and dosing of chemicals based on Lab analysis

  • Ensure the discharge water quality is maintained to the specification of the discharge permit.

  • Ensure that all chemicals are stored, handled and used, safely, effectively and economically, in line with company requirements.

  • Carry out operational maintenance on equipment and instrumentation in accordance with work €™s schedules and instructions.

  • Trouble-shooting  €“ plant breakdowns and operational issues

  • Carry out COSHH and Risk assessments

  • Respond to call outs as and when required

  • Liaising with various bodies and individuals, including local authorities,government agencies, clients, contractors, residents, suppliers, technical experts and other consultants;

  • Provide additional cover for operational demands when required.

  • To provide standby cover and work flexibly.

The experience you will need,

The ideal candidate will have experience of operating either a water treatment plant or have experience of chemical processes.

You will be able to use computer systems for works SCADA and have an understanding of principles of COSHH, Lone Working procedures and Basic First Aid.

It would be highly desirable to have experience of Biological processing.

Sludge treatment processes and experience with laboratory analysis would be desirable.
