Salary: Circa  £56,000 depending on skills and experience + annual incentive + car/cash allowance
Full Time Hours | 37 hours per week
Our Role
As Renewable Operations SHE Manager, you will be responsible for the safe delivery of SHE operational outcomes for our people, assets and the environment within the SSE Renewables Operations business, focusing on our Wind and Hydro Operations. As a key member of the SSE Renewables Safety Leadership team, this will be at the heart of everything that you do.
Reporting to the Head of SHE – SSE Renewables, you will actively apply and promote SHE policies and standards across the group, supporting the Renewable Generation team in their endeavours to keep people, assets and the environment safe from harm. You will also oversee SHE in joint ventures where Renewable Generation is currently a non-operating partner and where possible influence SHE management of the Renewable Generation assets, as appropriate throughout their lifecycle.
You will have key responsibility for ensuring that SHE Operations is a trusted partner both internally within the SHE Team and across the SSE Group keeping the environment safe as assets are developed, delivered, operated and decommissioned. This will include the provision of the necessary support and guidance for the directorate to be able to manage their risks. Furthermore, you'll apply standards on the type of quality communication to all stakeholders within the SHE Renewables Operations team and the wider SHE functions. There will also be a requirement to complete due diligence exercises, SHE assessments / audits of businesses, organisations and contractors as and when applicable.
In addition to the above, you will work closely with the Renewable Operations business to deliver the Safety Family requirements in line with the Safety Family Programme ensuring that it is delivered in a clear, consistent and frequent way including working with preferred / strategic contractors to develop stronger, safer and respectful relationships on site. You will also provide direct Leadership support to the Local Safety Groups.
Your Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you should hold an undergraduate qualification in Occupational Health and Safety Management and / or hold a scientific, engineering or equivalent qualification along with sufficient industry experience. Furthermore, you will be a registered member of IOSH or equivalent accrediting body (or be willing to work towards). You will have experience of working in a high hazardous industry i.e. onshore and offshore wind generation, experience managing a team and have sound working knowledge of SHE regulations in the UK & Ireland in line with SSE Business Environments. You will have a good understanding of SHE Management Systems, SHE Risks and UK Legal Framework including CDM along with a good eye for spotting business opportunities.
An excellent communicator with a natural flair for forging relationships with key stakeholders at all levels, you will have a strong ability to work and deliver against challenging constraints along with the ability to lead, motivate and develop a team. You will be a keen problem solver and critical thinker and will be able to address complex issues making them simple through to a well-structured systematic approach, understand risks and implement appropriate solutions. Above all, you will demonstrate awareness of both personal and corporate safety practices.
Due to the level of mobility required in this role a full UK driving licence is essential.
