Location: Fiddlers Ferry Salary: circa £55,000 depending on skills and experience + annual bonus Permanent | Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available | 37 hours per week The Role The SSE Thermal Energy SHE Support and Assurance Manager is required to be an expert in their field; they will support the Head of SHE Thermal Energy to ensure consistency across the directorate in the design, implementation, communication and coordination of all Safety, Health and Environmental matters. This position will develop and provide technical and administrative support to the Head of SHE Thermal Energy on all SHE decisions, which have critical importance to overall directorate objectives, operations, and profitability. Effective engagement with stakeholders is essential to develop, implement and maintain fit-for-purpose SHE documentation which delivers safe outcomes for our people, contractors and the environment. Strong internal and external stakeholder management will drive commitment towards and model behaviours consistent with the companys purpose, values and objectives. In building these relationships, the Thermal Energy SHE Support and Assurance Manager will drive cross business collaboration to build a high performing, customer focused culture and the effective delivery of safe, reliable and affordable outcomes. The Thermal Energy SHE Support and Assurance Manager will collaborate with the Thermal Energy business on all aspects of occupational and process safety, health and environment, and along with direct line reports, provide support, advice, guidance and governance on compliance with statutory provisions, associated SSE Group SHE standards and the SSE Thermal Energy SHE Management System. Key Accountabilities -Assurance -Trusted Partner -Project/Asset Management -Behavioural Safety Capability & Competency -Regulatory and Enforcement Agencies, Third Parties -Recruitment, selection, management and development of the Thermal Energy SHE Team -Incident Management and Support -Representation -SHE Strategy and SHE Documentation Standards -Compliance and Assurance -Process Safety Your Skills & Experience -Extensive knowledge and experience of working in a high hazard industry -Working with SHE Management System policies and strategies within an asset intensive engineering environment -Working knowledge of SHE regulations in the UK and Ireland in line with SSE Thermal Energy Business -Experience in project management, having a demonstrable track record on the delivery of projects on time and to quality -Registered member of IOSH or equivalent professional body (or desire to work towards) -Providing advice, support and guidance to permit SSE project/ teams to be best placed to manage SHE risks -SHE review of design, construction and operations solutions for new or modified equipment, plant and processes -Understands and manages financial budgets including tolerances e.g. actuals versus forecasts -Confident personality with first class interpersonal skills with ability to engage, influence and communicate effectively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively to reach agreed safe, reliable and affordable outcomes -Valid Drivers Licence Our Benefits We have an excellent benefits package as part of our offering.
